I have driven to Tunisia from the UK a couple of times. Take the channel tunnel and drive down to Marseille, then the ferry from Marseille to Tunis. You can take a car of any age into Tunisia for a maximum of 3 months in any one year. Ferry details at

The crossing is about 20 hours long so a cabin is a good idea!
