RE: Bank Accounts
Hi Kris
Firstly, best of luck with the marriage contract, I know all about getting married in Tunisia, the paperwork/do***ents/translations/the running around. Hope all goes well with you both. Enjoy!
I found out on another site that I recently came across and there was a reply from someone and I attach this reply below:
"When I was living in Tunisia, there was only one bank catering to foreign expats and diplomats:
TUNIS INTERNATIONAL BANK
18 Avenue des Etats Unies, PO Box 81
1002 Tunis, Belvedere
Tel: 00216 1 7824 11
Fax: 00216 1 7824 79
E-mail: tibl.tib@planet.tn
In those days, this was the only bank where one could receive money transfers in hard currency (EURO, dollars) on foreign currency accounts... Upon departure, it was also possible to tranfer your earnings in hard currence back to the bank in your home country. Other Tunisian banks did not offer this service, and I would be surprised if they did now.
I suggest you take up contact with this bank and ask for information
Greetings,
SidiBouBoy
(PS, in my days, the Tunisian banking service "sucked" (excuse me my language), except for TIB, where the service was as fast, friendly and smooth as in Europe...)" [:-]
Look forward to hearing your tips on banks and properties.
