Default Tunisia gets two higher education institutes

Two new institutes of higher education are to be built in Tunisia as part of a deal struck with Kuwait.

Tunisia's minister of development and international cooperation Nouri Jouini, met with the Director General of the Kuwaiti Fund for Arab Economic Development on November 27th to finalise the deal.

It will see a 20 million dinar loan paid by Kuwait to Tunisia to fund the building of two institutes in Kelibia and Medenine, reports Tunisia Online.

The loan will be made available in 2008 and will need to be paid back within 20 years.

The Kuwaiti Fund has helped to create some 30 projects in Tunisia over the last 40 years, with developments in infrastructure, rural development, transportation, agriculture and industry.

In addition to the funding for the educational buildings, Mr Jouini and Ahmed El Badr also spoke about the resurfacing of around 187 agricultural tracks in Tunisia.

The idea is to improve links between production centres and consumer markets.
