A new Tunisian television channel is to begin broadcasting by the end of 2006.
The channel, named Nessma TV, will be broadcast from abroad and will aim to attract Magherbi audiences.
Programmes will be presented in French, Tunisian and other Magherbi dialects and the shows on offer are likely to attract large audiences.
The Star Academy show, which was made in conjunction with Endemol and was very popular when first broadcast, will be shown on the channel and other hits will join it.
Nessma TV will be broadcast from Paris, however all production and post production work will be done in Tunisia.
The station will create a number of media jobs for people in Tunisia and 850 temporary jobs have been created with the announcement that Star Academy will be returning for a second series.
