Default Tunisia first in Africa and in the Arab world in terms of environmental performance,a

The 2008 Environmental performance index, ranks 149 countries in the world on 25 indicators following 6 established guidelines categories: climate change environmental health, air pollution, water resources, biodiversity and habitat and productive natural resources. As a measures of pollution control and natural resource management results, the index provides a strong tool for improving policy making and shifting environmental decision making onto firmer ****ytical foundations.

In this regard, -Researchers from the universities of Yale and Columbia in the United States , have ranked Tunisia as 59 th country which reflects the governmental sound policy and plans to keep Tunisia one of the healthiest and beautiful country to visit and maintain its “environmental performance index” (EPI).

In fact, Tunisia is ranking the first in Africa and in the Arab World in the 2008 edition of the EPI, with a total score of 78,1%. The first three countries in the world according to the index, are respectively Switzerland , Sweden , and Norway .noting that Tunisia has a diversified climate and ecosystem that’s its north is typically Mediterranean (sea, forest..) yet the south is mainly Oasis from which water springs naturally like in Tamarza and Shbika , and has a wonderful landscapes as well as you can see sandy dunes from one region to another .
