The 2008 World Bank Development report entitled “Agriculture for Development”, has confidently depicted Tunisia as a well performed economy since it was able to achieve a constant decrease of poverty in rural areas, as well as in reducing disparities between urban and regional areas.
-in fact, The report has been stated by one of the economist from the University of California Mr Alain Janjry , who also said that Tunisia has a real prospective to advance a high value- added agriculture and develop non traditional products Tunisia as a “success story” for having been able of putting agriculture at the service of development.
In this regard, The researcher said that one of the ways of achieving this goal was to reduce dependency from adverse climatic situations, as well as stressing family agriculture by diversifying the later while giving it an increased merchant value.
Actually, the World Bank has collaborated to a series of Tunisian’ projects in the sector of agriculture, especially in the north western part of the country.
