Default Tunisia-diplomacy: Popular warm welcome reserved to President Nicolas Sarkozy

- A summit meeting between Presidents Zine el Abidine Ben Ali and Nicolas Sarkozy took place yesterday evening 28th April 29, 2008.

The meeting was marked by a warm atmosphere, deep conviviality and mutual consideration. It allowed to review the long-standing friendship relations between the two countries and the process of fruitful co-operation between Tunisia and France and the prospects for promoting and diversifying this co-operation, as well as on the regional and international current issues.

The official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic specified that presidents Zine el Abidine Ben Ali and Nicolas Sarkozy reasserted, on the close and historical bilateral relations binding the two countries, their joint will to establish a strategic partnership in the services of the mutual interests.
In this regard, 3 co-operation conventions in the fields of emigration, solidarity-based development, economic and financial partnership and civil nuclear energy were signed.

The talk also turned on the relations between Tunisia and the EU. President Zine el Abidine Ben Ali reiterated, in this respect, the deep importance he grants to the development of these relations, particularly since the creation early this year, of a free-trade zone between Tunisia and the EU.
