Tunisia is involved in a bidding war for a seat on the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) council.
A seat on the council would give the country a big say in future global air transport standards and practices.
Tunisia is up against the likes of the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Lebanon for one of four seats.
An election is due to take place in Montreal, Canada, where the ICAO is based.
Members from 36 states makeup the council and those that are voted on will hold their place for three years.
The news that Tunisia is bidding to be elected to the board comes in the same month that an agreement was reached between the country and Morocco concerning the liberalisation of air transport between the two countries.
