Oil production in Tunisia is proving plentiful with the announcement from a pair of oil companies that production at the Oudna field is faring well now it is fully up and running.
Swedish-based Lundin Petroleum and Atlantis Holding Norway, who both own 50 per cent of the oil field each, have said that gross production at the Oudna location has now reached 20,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd).
"The increased production from the Oudna field has ensured that we have achieved our forecast 2006 year end production of 40,000 bopd," said Ashley Heppenstall, president and chief executive officer of Lundin Petroleum.
Tunisian state oil company ETAP has a 20 per cent purchase option on the Oudna field location, which can be exercised within 120 days of the field's operations beginning, which was on November 11th this year.
When production began, Mr Heppenstall welcomed the event as a "major milestone" for his company.
