- M. Mohamed Nouri Jouini, Minister of Development and International Cooperation, said on Tuesday at the Chamber of Deputies, that the volume of foreign direct investment (FDI) registered in Tunisia in 2007, exceeded the value of 2 billion dinars or 2157.9 million dinars, excluding privatization receipts.
During a debate held on the investment sector and key projects the minister added that these investments recorded an evolution of 35.7% compared to the results of 2006 (1589, 7 million dinars).
These outcomes were achieved thanks to a favourable business climate and a good reputation enjoyed by Tunisia due to its participation in several forums and worldwide organizations; The investments have helped to create 20 thousand new jobs, equivalent to 24% of all jobs created.
Actually the tunisian economic environment has allowed to the establishment of 271 new foreign firms and the expansion of 222 other existing companies, bringing the total number of foreign-invested enterprises founded in Tunisia to 2900 and employing about 291 thousand people.
