Etoile Sahel take Confederation Cup
Tunisian football was in a state of delirium over the weekend as Etoile Sahel clinched the African Confederation Cup title in Sousse.
The home side settled for a goalless draw in the second leg against Morocco's Royal Armed Forces, but the fact that they grabbed a 1-1 draw in the first leg meant they became champions on the away goals rule.
Following the heartbreak of last month as Sfaxien crashed to an injury time Champions League final defeat to Egypt's Al Ahly, Tunisian football will be relieved it was second time lucky for its teams in major continental competitions this year.
Etolie Sahel largely outplayed their opponents during the game, with Royal Armed Forces looking for a killer counter attack that never materialised.
The Tunisians will now meet Sfaxien's conquerors Al Ahly in the African Super Cup next year, with the chance to gain some revenge for the Champions League runners-up surely on the cards.
