Dear friend, I am a mature gentleman who loves Tunisia as a frequent visitor, and whilst I admit the Tunisians are amongst the nicest people on the planet, may I offer some councel. Be careful, internet meetings can be dangerous. Meet in public places only, preferably euro friendly hotels, do not part with any money, contact me for further advice if required.

I totally agree that you should stick to the tourist areas, I recently returned from a week in Sfax (not a tourist place) and I'm not joking when I say that at times I was scared (even though my fella was very protective). If I had got into trouble I don't know how I would have survived, no-one seemed to speak english & I was stared at as if I was an alien. One time my fella went to get something from a shop & left me sat on a bench, he was gone for half an hour & I was totally stranded, I didn't know where I was & had no money in my pocket. Thankfully he returned full of apologies (he bumped into a mate & got talking) Please be very careful, let your family/friends know exactly where you are staying and send a text regularly to let them know you are ok. Take care, be safe but also have fun x

Hi CJ
Like everyone has already said just be careful, it is very easy to get carried away on the net. When you get over there you have also got a lovely inviting country, sun, sea, palm trees and the old Tunisian charm so its even harder to not let your heart rule your head! Stay in a hotel and book it from the UK, at least if you need to come home (worst scenario) the reps can help you. Good luck. |

Hi CJ. I really wish you a very nice time in a beautiful country - food, colours, culture, the people etc. Continue some advice - do not show him your wallet or creditcard etc. Only carring as much money in cash that you need for the moment. On your first date - if you are the one who suppose to take care of for example the restaurantbill - this is "red flag" - end this story quickly.

Thanks everyone, yes I will be very careful and keep my guard up. I will be staying with him and his family in the old city Medina in Sousse. And believe me, if he is not honest he will wish he had never met me and I think he knows that, I'm tougher than what people think
No one is going to take me for a ride! But I am sure he is ok, well I'll find out soon. Thanks again all of you for your concern and advice, I will take it all on board![]() |
