Default Living in Tunisia

Anyone know of any couples living in Tunisia successfully, in the sense that it was the best place to live. Also are there many people meeting up, as I wouldn't want to live in isolation, in other words not having expat friends be that British or otherwise. The language is an issue, and wouldn't want to live there until I am almost fluent in Arabic and French, as it wouldn't be worth it for me. My partner speaks excellent English and other languages and could easily integrate in the UK. We don't know what the future lies with regards to where we will live long term. It would be good to get post for a handful of people living there. There is an Italian community in Tunis, just wondered where the English community congregate. Ta very much.

Hi all,
I'm new to this forum and I think that it is a fantastic site! congratulations! I love Tunisia and I have found loads of useful information already on different topics.
I'm very much interested in living and working in Tunisia, specifically Sousse or it's vicinity. So my question is to those who do live there or lived there at one point: how did you manage to find a job and a place to live? How did you start?
Don't want to dig into anyone's private issues, i just really want this to work out and do whatever it takes on my part to make this dream of mine become reality - so any help, advice, personal story would be very much appreciated! Thanks so much to those who can help me, in advance!

best,
K

Hi K
you will have dificulty finding work as if the job can be done by a Tunisian he must be given it! you could try the UK travel companies as they always need reps,or some hotels employ English guest relation officers these aimed at English speaking people who are prefered to have at least some knowledge of French and or Arabic......you could always start your own business as there are lots of opportunities here.best of luck

If you do anything on the internet you should be ok I would have thought anybody in a home based job should be ok in some way shape or form as you wouldn't need to make as much money as before given the lower cost of living.

Best scenario is renting out the house at home as you should be able to have a nice life with 1000 dinars a month after rent (at the moment £416.00) I have very few Tunisian friends whom earn over 2000 dinars a month unless they are self employed and those guys have good jobs for large companies.

As the number of UK tourists going to Tunisia increases so will the number of opportunities I would like to think.
