Default Working in Tunisia.

While browsing the website NO MARMITE IN TUNISIA | Life In Tunisia For British Expats I see there is an area with job vacancies, thought this might be of interest as jobs there are so hard to find.

What are workers paid in Tunisia? Are there provisions for health insurance and worker's compensation.

You will have to pay for all health/dental care yourself, as far as I am aware. Perhaps there are exceptions for those in "higher positions".

Since people pay for their own insurance, do they usually skip that and just go through alternative health care providers in Chinese medicine and the like?

Default Hi

Hi,

An average monthly wage in Tunisia is about 300 dinar though it varies with like Pej says higher positions.

Also i believe health care is paid for privately and is not expensive compared to European countries, approximately 15-25 dinar for a dental appointment and about 10-15 dinar for a doctors appointment.

Always try and get insurance though as serious illnesses always cost even at cheap prices!

Looks like I will be looking at the currency converter! It doesn't sound like alot of money but with no way to compare, it's hard to tell!

i suggest you get health insurance if you can.
i went to a doctor in gafsa and paid 10 dinar - i walked straight in too (without waiting) so i believe others paid less. (all i wanted was a medical certificate because i got sick at the end of my trip and had to tak a few extra days off work)
if you need any type of hospitalisation/operation, the govt only pays 30% so it can get expensive quickly - my husbands mother had a basic operation on her leg and it was expensive i think they paid 1000 dinar
