Default travelling to Port El Kantaoui

Hi guys,

I'm new to all this, so looking for some advice...! My boyfriend works as part of an animation team (yes I know all the bad stories, but he's leaving in a few months!) and I'm going out to stay with him in January for a week.
Where is the best place to book flights from, and how much does a taxi cost from the airport to Port el Kantaoui? Also, do I need a visa etc to enter the country?

Any advice is welcome, as I normally just go as part of a package holiday.

Default Hi

Hi ya,

The best place would be to fly into Monastir airport and then you can get a taxi to Port el Kantaoui - this should cost no more than 15 dinar so make sure you agree a price before as they can be cheeky and put the cost of the taxi up. If you have to fly into Tunis airport then your best option would be to book a coach transfer as its about 2 hours to Port el Kantaoui from Tunis.

When you are on the airplane, they will give you a little visa card to fill in your details and then hand this in at the passport control they will take the section they need, this is your valid entry and you can stay in Tunisia for 3 months maximum (I'm guessing your not staying that long but just in case ).

Hi Guys!
Kelly is right Monastir is closer to port el kantaoui and loads of charters fly to there.
Just to complete you will need an adress to fill the "fiche de police" (little visa card) and in case you are not staying in hotel for exemple at friends house you will be ask to register at local police station (simple formalitie). Please note that is the rule and sometimes it is not necessary but as long as I know that's how it works with my friends when they accompagne me in Tunisia.

Enjoy your trip

Hi everyone

I'm flying in 2 weeks time to go and see my boyfriend. Its the first time I've been back. If I put down his address on the Visa card will I have problems at passport control? Is there anything I should do beforehand? Didn't even think of it until I saw this thread!!

Hi, I put my now husband's address down on the card the first time I went back to visit - and every time since... Your man has to report to the police within 24 hours that he has a foreigner in his home accodring to the law. Does he live alone or "just" with friends? Maybe he doesn't think it proper to go tell the police... on the other hand, hotels have to inform the police too.

Hi All!
Sally enjoy your trip that's just formalities authorities need to know where you're staying that's normal and common in every (civilised) countries Also this is better for your own sake though Tunisia is very safe!

Have fun lucky you

By the way I've been on BA website and there are flights for around 100GBP (tax included)to Tunis dont know if it's bargain or not but for me that's sounds good.
Do you have other tips about cheap flights?

Thanks Toonssia - you have no idea how excited I am! I'm counting down the days - only 16 left!!
I'm flying with Thomsonfly - got the return flight for £160 which as its the first time I've booked I can't say if thats good or not. But I am away over the Xmas period so I didn't think it was too bad.
