Default Buying goods in Tunisia

Hi, I have just joined this forum as I recently bought an appartment in Chott Merriem.

I will be going in February to get the apartment furnished and wondered if any one had any tips on best places to get furniture, white goods, crocks ie everything an apartment needs? Does Tunisia have major stores that you can order from and will theyl deliver or do you need to try and hire a van yourself ?

Any advice would be apreciated

Jon

Hi Jonr,

There a loads of furniture shops in Tunisia and on the road to Tunis there are some really nice shops.
The main shop that people do get there furniture is from moblotex, not to sure what furniture shops are in chott meriam.
Moniprix are really good theres moniprix maison thats all your crocks, pots and pans ,duvets, covers and plenty more.
Please try and look around as they have like small boutiques, well in Nabeul anyway and they do some really beautiful furniture and essentials for the house.
Theres a nice shopping centre in La marsa and by the way yes they do deliver.
Good luck,

Default Hi

Hi Jon,

Also you have Champion in Sousse which has furniture for the home and is getting better I actually got my TV and washing machine from there there also sell crockery and kitchen utensils etc. They do deliver on the bigger items though we didnt use the delivery service and also Monoprix in Sousse does deliver as we enquired there before and like Roulla said they have a lot of furniture for the home.

Hi Jon!
it is common practice to design your own furniture and ask for an "menuisier" (translation harraps lol! =joiner cabinet maker). They are great in forged steel furnitures.
There are shops called Meublatex they have a large choice

Hi Jonr,

Yes i actually forgot to tell you that if you buy furniture from meublatex, it's like buying from Argos where you have to screw everything yourself, but they normally put it together for you free of charge.

Hi and thanks for all the advice which is certainly a big help. I was worried that i may have had trouble finding everything needed, but from what your saying it should not be much more difficult than in the UK and hopefully alot cheaper.
I want to make the apartment feel Tunisian so buying local and hopefully getting some items made like the bedroom furniture will add to the Tunisian style which I love.

thanks again and hope to speak with you all again soon. i will certainly let you know how I get on and make some posts once furnished which may be helpful to other members.
