Default Buying Cigerettes

Is it very exspensive to buy cigerettes in Tunisia? The reason I asked is because I was told that they are very pricey there and to bring your own while visiting. Thanks

I am not sure of the exact pricing but even I heard it is costly when compared, google out for the cost may be you can find some range.

Default Hi

Hi Tater,

Cigarettes are soooooo cheap in Tunisia, in fact too cheap because I now smoke double to what I did when living in the UK . I smoke the local brand which is called Mars and costs 2 dinar. You can get Marlboro and what not that are I think about 3 - 3.5 dinar.

Tater not sure where you live, but cigarettes in the UK are astronomical now.

Yes i agree fags are so cheap in Tunisia but you must be really careful where you buy them, if you end up buying them from someone selling them in the market even though 200 will only cost you 18 dinar you are sure to choke on them as they are very stale and strong so be warned, try and buy them from the shop or kiosk !!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

Default Hi

Hi Roulla,

Yes definately you do have to be really careful, I remember my fiance buying just a packet of Mars Legeres in the Nabeul Market and they were just awful - in Kantaoui on the beach all day you will have someone trying to sell cigarettes to you, do not be tempted they are disgusting, definately stick with using the shops.

I really heard that they are costly, I am glad they aren't more of help me. I need to inform this to those who spoke about it being more costly. Thanks to all for letting me know about the costs.

Hi All!
I confirm in Tunisia cigarettes are very cheap for us not like for local people.
just a quick advice try to buy your cigarettes in tobacco retailers (sorry dont know the exact term in english...) Malboro blue tickets are in my opinion far better than the duty free one and the price is slightly the same.
If you decide to buy at duty free wait to arrive in Tunisia cos you'll have them a lot cheaper than in UK.

My husband just got back from Tunisia with boxes of Mars – we’re getting through them like nobody’s business – they are so mild! Not the kind that makes your head dizzy like Benson & Hedges – now they are strong!!! Crystal cigarettes come to mind

Default Hi

Hi

Yep totally agree Mars are so light, there are the red packet ones which are the normal Mars and then the white and red that are Mars Legeres which is Mars light version. I cant believe I used to be able to spoke B&H - I now smoke Mars Legeres and I hate to think what would happen if I even attempted anything stronger now
