Wink Family & Friends

Hi everyone,
I am new to this forum & I hope you all had a good Christmas. I managed to successfully cook Christmas dinner for 12 people without actually burning it & even better I also managed to have all the dishes hot at the same time!!! - does anyone else find this difficult to achieve when you are cooking for so many people, or is it just me lacking in the culinery skills!!
Its lovely to just have some time with your family over Christmas & I think if you have children in the family they really do make Christmas that extra bit special. Has anyone had the joy of playing a "wii" yet, wow! what a fantastic games console, I can see now why the kids were all raving about it - although very expensive because the supply & demand for the UK went absolutely crazy for it. However it is a very interactive, competitive & physical game & is unbelievably exhausting after about an hour or so, but to be brutally honest if you are over the age of 35 it is virtually impossible to continue the game any longer than 30 minutes - as my brother & I found out & much to the amusement of the kids!! this is definitely for the younger generation, but so much fun!

At the moment I have friends who flew over to Tunisia to spend their New Year there, they have never been there at this time so I hope they will have a great time. So far they tell me that it is quite quiet, not as many tourists around as they hoped, have had some rain & the nights are very cold. However I am still jealous because there will still be plenty to see & do.
I have also been trying to find a friend that I met in Tunisia in June of this year, but it appears that I would have more of a chance finding a needle in a haystack! Recently my friends (or the troops as I like to call them), have been trying to trace him on my behalf, but have now discovered he has left the hotel where he worked in late Sept/early Oct (seasonal work) & although the hotel have been kind & are still trying for me, it doesn't look too good. I get very annoyed at myself for leaving this for so long & most importantly refusing to leave my contact number with him at that time, I think at that time I was just too wary & foolishly I left without as much of a thank you, & I regret this because his kindness not only to me but to my mother as well was so sincere & that I let the chance of a possible good friendship slip by. Only to find myself now trying to find a way of contacting him to say thank you for his Tunisian hospitality- its crazy, but the least I can do is try! Is there anyone else that also has this special ability to screw things up??

Anyway best wishes to you all for the New Year - have a great time & I can't wait to hear my friends experience of their Tunisian New Year - Oh how I wish I was there - lucky devils!!!
(sorry if I talked too much but I'm addicted to it!!!!)

I have to agree that friends and family make it all so much more better at the holidays. My two sons wanted a Wii but I could not get my hands on one but they were happy with the new games they got for their other game system.
I really hope that in the New Year you find your friend. You have a great and safe and Happy New Years.

Hi Jools,

Hope that you are in good health ! Hope that you had a wonderful xmas , Yes i had the same as you ,only i had 7 kids to cater for plus i had 9 adults to cook for, what really gets me is that i have to prepare some greek, arabic and english food as they all like different things to eat and yes i was in the kitchen on xmas day from 9 am til 3 pm trying to make sure that everything was all ok, thank god it was, but 2 days after when i had to prepare food for the same people i started to panic as there was no space in the kitchen anyway all went well , my house was a wreck and i stayed up till 4am cleaning up, but they all had a good time and the kids loved the wii, but my son was lucky as he got his last xmas, and even then he only played ith it once as my grandaughter got slapped in the mouth by accident as they were playing tennis on it and that put my son off it, but he is ok now.............have a really nice and pleasurable day on new years ..........

Holidays are not yet over for us, but Christmas time is really one that everyone in the family just enjoys. Looking forward for the New Year to be similar. Everyone in my family had great time. House looks so lively especially during the Holiday or Festival time. Anyways, wish you all have nice time for New year too. Enjoy!!!!!

You know what I hate is you spend all that time preparing everything and then everyone is done eating within a half hour and then you are cleaning it all up and packing it away.

I have been having a wonderful holiday with family visiting and eating which lasts more than a half hour though. We do a lot of talking and reminiscing about past times. In traveling with others, I think it is more fun to travel in a group with family and friends as it is more memorable.

My holidays have been lovely. I stayed with my family and then had friends to visit me for the New Year which was really lovely.
