Default Exchanging Monies / using credit cards

Hi

How easy is it to change money and use credit cards? I have been told that is difficult outside of the hotel.

Thanks

If you mean ATMs then it is easy loads of them everyplace (though check with your issuer with regard to fees for this service)

if you mean over the counter then you may have issues unless you have your passport etc.

Again it may be worth checking with the bank as they somtimes charge large fees for cash withdrawls abroad in this situation I usually use the ATM and usually a larger sum of money as usually you get a fixed fee also.

Regards,

Kris

Kris

Thanks for the info.
I have not been to Tunisia since 1989. I guess it may have changed a bit.

credit cards can be a bit hit and miss apart from the big stores, I tend to just get cash out of the ATM unless making a big purchase somewhere like Carrefour the big supermarket in Tunis.

Hi there,

Change is simple and easy ... in the centrum of each city there are plenty of banks ... there can you change ...
in the hotel as well ...
in the street but it's illegal .. you can make more money by changing in the street ... but it's not legal ..

credit card you can use everywhere as well .. but what i do myself .. and i believe it's the best way ... i take all the time my normal bankcard .. and i just use it to get money from the machines in the street ... (machines are everywhere ) why i believe it's the best way : First then you are using your own money (it's not a credit ) no interest over the money you use in Tunisia ... Second : if in case you use it .. you just contact your bank and it's blocked ... Third : in case you have a problem with money ( money ba777 / i mean OVER ) you still can deal with your bank ...

Take it easy and spend as much as you can in Tunisia ...

Rgds
