Default info on renting property in Tunisia

Hi

Myself and one of my friends are visiting Tunisia so much we are now planning on moving over to Tunisia for 3-4 months next summer. We are looking for a 3 bedapartment to rent in Monastir as we usually stay at the Liberty Hotel in Skanes and now have quite a few friends in this area - we were wondering if anyone can give us any details on letting agents/ reputable landlords??

If anyone alsohas any info onhow easy/expensive it is to fly across to Morocco, Eygpt etc when you are in Tunisia anycomments on thiswould also be appreciated.

Cheers

Default RE: info on renting property in Tunisia

Hello and welcome to the forum!

This indeed is a problem for may visitors to Tunisia asnd finding reputable estate/rental agents can be a pain.

We have added a new property rentals section to the website http://properties.tunisia.com which has an increasing number of properties to rent in Tunisia.

You can also try other leading sites where owners let their properties unfortunately I would treat renting a property from a Tunisian estate agent in the same manner as renting from the owner (prefer it actually) as many estate agents are one man bands in Tunisia so do not hand over all the money and do you homework before coming to the property.

Regards,

Kris

Default RE: info on renting property in Tunisia

Hi there,

I currently live in Tunis, I have what they call a Studio Apartment, it has a front room, bed room, kitchen and bathroom we rent it for 170 dinars in my partners local city, but before this we were living in Port el Kantoui a very tourist, lovely place an rented an apartment for 450 dinars. As Kris said its really the same as renting from the owner as an estate agent, and it will be nearly impossible to find a property over the internet unless you want to pay for a holiday home, the best place to look is the local paper the La Presse, they have hundreds of properties available in all the areas, thats where we got both of our flats from paying reasonable prices.
Hope this helps x

Thanks Kelly and Kris for welcoming me to the forum and for the info.

Kelly - is that the cost of your apartment per month?? as I have been told we are looking at paying around 300 dinar per month for a 2-3 bed apartment.

Maybe we should use our tunisian friends to help us out from what you and Kris have said about landlords....As two girls on out own it is a bit daunting - we are going over at new year to start our search and were hoping to secure a property then - will they expect a deposit and how do we guarantee they will still have the property held for us on our return in May??
