Default Transfer from airport

Hi guys, I was just wondering how safe are the taxis in Tunisia and if anyone knows how much it would cost for 3 people to get from the Tunis airport to Yasmine Hammamet in late hours (1am)? Thanks in advance.

Hi Yasmine,
I've been going a lot with taxis in tunisia. How safe it is depends on how you mean. Most of the cars are in quite bad condition (compared to UK and Sweden) and they drive very fast. So I wouldn't say the cars are that safe compared to here. All taxi drivers I've gone with has been very nice, so in that case I think it's safe going with a taxi.

Normally the yellow taxis only goes inside the city. so when travelling between the cities you will have to use a louage (a mini van). But perhaps it's possible to pay a taxi driver extra money to drive to Hammamet, never tried that.

Instead of taxi you could book transfer via medhotels. I've done that once, very convienient. Pls see below link.

Good luck!
Jenny

med hotels drop off at certain hotels listed on their website. I have travelled with them many times. If your hotel is not on their list you can always ask the driver and for a small fee of your choice he will normally drop you off.The cost from airport is normally around £4

Oh wow, I didn't think of that option. Thanks for the link! I don't understand the indirect/direct options. The indirect is much cheaper, so we would of course prefer that, but does this medhotels agency travel during the night (since we'll be in Tunis around 0am/1am)??

How secure/dependable is this medhotels service, anyway? I wouldn't like to have booked a transfer and then realize that they are not coming to get me, lol.

I haven't used them myself, but have two friends who go to Tunisia regularly(the past ten years) who have. They have never been let down.

Are you talking about taxis or medhotels service now?

Hi,

I managed to bring the price down to 70 dinars last week. (two people). that was from tunis airport to hammamet. Med transfers are brilliant, but make sure you book them at least 3 days before your trip; otherwise you cant book them online.
One more option - if you dont manage to book your transfers, they usually pick somebody up anyway, maybe you can strike some sort of deal with them then and there.
And please be careful, they like to quote their prices in euros rather then dinars

They pick up in the middle of the night too. I remember when I used them my flight was arriving at midnight and they stood at the airport waiting for me. I think there are plenty of people here at t.com as has used them. Me myself got the info about them at t.com
