Default camping in Tunisia

Hello, i'm new to the site, so will have plenty of questions in the coming months!
My wife and i are hoping to visit Tunisia early next year to spend a couple of months travelling and exploring what we've heard is a beautiful country.
we are driving over in our Land Rover and will be using hotels in places but are also hoping to camp out.
i was wondering what the rules or laws are on camping, wether on a site or wild camping, and if there are many camp sites.
we will be spending some time up north but are hoping to explore the south more.

any help is greatly appreciated.

thanks

Thankyou for the welcome!

and thankyou for that very useful link! does anyone have information on wild camping? ie, out of the proper sites?
i hear there are no problems and that as long as you use common sense it is ok, however, i prefer not to rely on 'i heard...' i'd rather have facts or first hand local knowledge, the last thing we want to do is upset the police or local people!

and we'll be taking lots of pix! so i'll be happy to post them as we go!

Hi and welcome Hobson. Do you plan to do any desert camping? I'm sure there's many amazing "kodak moments" to be had there. Maybe not a place to camp without an experienced guide tho. It's something I hope to do in the future. Hope you have a great trip and look forward to seeing the photos.
