Default first time in tunisia

Hi just booked my girlfriend a suprise trip to Tunisia, where we will be staying in Tabarka hopefully to swim and walk in the mountains. Its our first time there and i have a couple of questions. Is it possible to hire motorcycles over there as i hear its a good way to travel?
and also i understand that Tunisia is not as stringent on the 'female' aspects, does my girlfriend need to be concerned about any aspects, such as having blonde hair and wearing a bikini etc? thanks for the help

Tabarka is in Northern Tunisia and a popular destination so i am sure that the folks there will be quite laid back.

I am sure there will be a place there where you will be abe to hire a scooter however the best foks to ask are the staff at the hotel that you have booked as they will have the latest knowledge.

I am sure a motorcycle is a great way to get about however i would make sure that you plan your trips to make sure that you don't get lost, learn a little french for food ordering whilst out and about and most importantly keep an eye out for drivers however that is a concern wherever you go on the roads.

As for the clothing issues i would say on the beach and hotel no issue however outside these places I would say unless you like stares and a few shouts and whistles i would avoid wearing a Bikini and say stick to covering the shoulders and below the knees (as you would be advised to do on a bike anyhow). The thing in tunisia its not nasty most of the time and there is a culture of letting nice ladies know they are nice, however the further you get into the countryside and away from the resort the more of a novelty you will become and thus should cover up a bit more.

when you get back please post some pictures of your trip for us and let us know how you got on :-)

I think it's a good choice ... Tabarka is good ... and the summer there is less hot than in other cities ... it's a lovely city with nice natural views

Have fun and enjoy your stay
Cheers

Hi,

hope you have a good time in Tabarka. It's a nice place but I would say that as my wife waas born there! I have been to Tabarka 4 times now and I find it more relaxing than each time. I cannot recall seeing motorbikes for hire...
