Yes I took my car and two kids last summer, eventful and you need to be prepared but it is fun and I am now planning next year. Marseille is the closest port but then you use French/tunisian ferry I went from Genoa which is approx 200 more miles but you get on a Italian ferry which I was advised to be the better company and Genoa was cheaper than Marseille

I was used to take ferry from Genoa but last summer I've tried the Civitavechia port (Roma) another 250 extra miles from Genoa and I will definitly do it again the ferry terminal was so clean and well maintained as it is not a freight port. Half price compared to Genoa and the crossing was fastest (dont really like to be on board).
The funny thing about this is that we've met Tunisian going to Genoa to catch their ferry at 18h ours was at 23h30 and guess what we were first at Tunis!!!!! They've sweard next year they'll be definitly going to Civitavechia!

That's sounds like an exciting way to travel around Tunisia. We have taken the ferry up and down the Atlantic coast here with my my in-laws. The ferry ride was an adventure, with ocean gulls following us all the way.

Hi All!
Cathibou I'm planning to go from 9/7 to 12/8 by choosing these dates we've got a 40% discount for buying a return. Booked with my brother he'll be coming from France but it's on the way.
Please not that this year the ferry is better it's the Eurostar Roma which is bigger than the Salerno previously used
If anyone is interesseted just let me know.

Ninikins you're so right it's a holidays on itself!

It's sounds like the perfect holiday with your brother joining you. You got a discount of 40% which helps. Sometimes they just want you to book a round trip ticket for less money. You'll love the ferry ride. I do too!!

You're so right but the 40% discount is only for return off peak well anyway got to come back so that's great.
Here's what I am planning to buy : 1185€ (817gbp) for 2 medium cars (3.91metres<car lenght>5metres) 3 adults 1 child return in a 4pax cabine.
If someone find cheaper please let me know.

We have hotels that are priced low at off peak times in the year. The price is 40% or 50% off the regular room rate. Who could pass it up? Hope you get the lowest fare when you go.

I am interested but unfortunately my kids don't finish school until 19th July would take them few days early but not 10 do you know when the season starts to try to get the lastest off season date, I too would come back on that 12th Aug ferry think it worked out 21/7 - 12/8 at £700 including cabin for 3 and 1 car
