I have stayed in Mahdia many times, i usually stayed at Iberostar Fatimi, but also at Mahdia Palace...went to VN and it was nice, a lot of italians.
Yeah like sb123 said visit el jem....the beaches are beautiful there a lot nicer than hammamet or sousse...
The weather isnt all that warm at the moment, i wouldnt say it were sun bathing weather. The nightlife is limited, and as its not the summer not sure if anything is open, but the "discos" are either Mahdia Beach or Bario Latino (this is the better of the 2)
Opposite Fatimi - which is a few doors down from your hotel is a little strip of shops, there is a supermarket there, and a couple of restaurants...one called Florida...their spagetti is yum...also they do crepes which are delicious...along there is the quad ikes which are fun to do
