These are the things I remember about driving in Tunisia:
Was in Hammamet and saw a young man on a scooter, so busy oggling some girls that he ran into the back of a taxi - no one was hurt, everyone stopped and laughed and shouted comments at him to keep his eyes on the road next time.
Double parking on street corners in Tunis.
Being a passenger in a car and twice, on different journeys, being stopped by the police for speeding. The first time we bribed our way out of it by paying 5TD but the second time, the policeman took my husband to the police car and sat with him for ages, talking about life in England and then gave him some advice about how to live his life before sending us on our way
Driving slowly through a village up on the Cap Bon as the children were coming out of school - they ran alongside the car wanting to know where we came from and what were we doing there.
I agree with those posts about expecting anything - I just can't get my head around what's meant to happen on roundabouts because who stops where and when seems so random. My husband won't let me drive anymore
