Jools the rail links are good, you can get a train from Sousse to Sfax without having to get off & change. It cost 7dinar for a one-way ticket (children may be cheaper) and it took one and a half hours to get there. The train was clean & comfortable and you can buy snacks from a trolley. I really enjoyed the train ride, the scenery was beautiful and it was nice to see parts of Tunisia that I haven't seen before. If you need any more info let me know.

hi dizzy, only just seen your post, yeah the trains do sound good & my husband also agreed that it would be less time from sousse than tunis, so hopefully plan B can now go into action.

thanks & take care,
jools

Jools,

I haven't posted in a while but caught up on this thread. My fiance is going to Sfax on the 15th for a job as well. He is form the UK and I am from Texas. I will be visiting him this summer. I, like you, wish it was in Tunis. I was a bit disappointed that one can't roam around the streets safely. If I go before you, I will give you the scoop.
