Wink hotels & apartments

Hi all,

I have been so busy lately that I have not been on the site for the past few weeks so I have spent the last 45 minutes reading all new posts to bring myself up to date!! I hope you are all well. My husband is working in Tunisia on a long contract, & I am looking for some advice to good hotels or rental apartments & prices in or around the outskirts of Tunis, so that myself & my son can nip backwards & forwards from the UK, also I don't want to be too isolated & nearer the beach would be good for my son.

Thanks in advance,
jools

Have a look at tunisie-annonce.com and scroll down to Tunis immobilier, you will find what's available in the Tunis area.

Hi gert-jan,

Many thanks for your info, but since I posted my question, plans have now changed & although my husband was in Tunis last week, he was only there for a short while & unfortunately he has now moved to sfax where it appears this seems where his work is going to be based & his accomodation hotel based, for the moment. However, my husband has just been off the phone to me & he feels that sfax, because it is very industrial is not the best place for myself & my son to be even for a holiday, so for the time being I will have to hold back & wait & see what happens. Also does anyone know anything about skype phones, he tells me that it would be the best way to keep in contact as calls are free if you both have a skype phone!!! which sounds wonderful, if this is the case.

Jools, I've just returned from Sfax and I agree with your husband - I don't want to be negative because I do love Tunisia in general but I wouldn't want to live in Sfax with my children. I've sent you a PM to explain more.

my sister in law stays in sfax and when they went out shopping my husband advised me that really I should stay at home with my neice and nephew as because it can be quite rough, he said people pull you about and they would stare at me lol but now when i read this i am getting to understand what he means :-)

Hi Jacquai,

Yes I have been hearing much the same, so I think I will just have to wait & see how long he will be based there & really take it from there. I think my husband is worried that we would be expecting the tourist type of city which it is not & he feels that with the traffic & the bustle of this city, it would not be ideal for us. It was a big disappointment because we both thought that he would be in Tunis much longer & I was quite excited because Tunis is great & I am sure we would have slotted in just fine, but for the time being it is not to be, however, it may change, but I don't think it is going to be right away!

Hi jacquai, sorry for the delay in my reply. That is very kind of you to offer, but I think my husband has put me off sfax, but I didn't know sousse was just as near, my husband said it took about 3-4 hours my train which was an express train from tunis so I think I assumed sousse was further away, that has now given me something else to think about now, maybe sousse over the school break would be an idea, especially if the rail links are as good as my husband says they are.

thanks jacquai & take care,
jools
