Hi Rachael,

It's www.tripadvisor.co.uk, just search for Tunisia or Port El Kantaoui hotels and you'll see the reviews... like I said the recent Soviva ones aren't bad at all so you may be in luck!

i have stayed in soviva couple times last one was jan this year ,ok it was quiet this time of year but when i stayed last oct it was packed ,i feel very welcomed there and i have stayed in a few places in pek so i can compare . I found it pretty clean and the food was fine for an all inclusive 3 star the shows in the evening were very good in the peak season march to nov ,as for locals coming in they can use the american bar and the disco i had local friends come in when i stayed, but like any holiday it is each to there own ,

When I was getting married last year we were looking for places for family to stay and Soviva was super cheap. My husband had told us that it really isnt a nice hotel at all and to try avoid it at all costs. Someone else mentioned Royal kenz, standards are fab but they don't allow children in. Alot of older British people staying there at this time of year. Actually alot of hotels in PEK at this time of year are alot of older people.

It's not right in PEK but a couple of minutes along the road at a tourist spot with a load of other hotels. It can be a little pricey though but has a nice little bar on the beach and things My parents stayed in it and loved it, I used to stay in the El mouradi across the road.

Hi Feefad,

Hope that you are in good health !
I have never been anywhere in Tunisia and been refused because i have kids, yes i know that their are some people who really don't like having kids around, but to me that really does sound stupid , especially given the fact that everyone in Tunisia adores kids so i don't know what plonker made that rule up............can you honestly see the president walking into that hotel with a kid, and they refuse him entry, i don't think so, they must of made the rules and regulations as they went along or the hotel was to packed the month that you went there......................I have even been to the calipso with my son and he was only 6 years old. at the time...
Plenty of glorious places to go to we don't need the Royal plonkers hotel.......take care

Royal kenz used to allow kids as my folks used to go with my friend who had a little girl. And all of the staff loved her. They just introduced the rule a couple of years ago which is why they stopped going. We dont have any children but not fussed where we go. I suppose different people just have different tastes.

It was introduced because it was (not sure if it still is) a Thomson's Gold hotel - which, all around the world, do not cater for families with children under 16. Consequently, the Royal Kenz is more popular with the 40+ age group (and resembles an old peoples home in the winter months!!!)
