Mouradi Jerba Menzel Hotel

Just got back from a 3 day stay there and have to say was not impressed.

I was so disappointed as I've stayed in the Mouradi, PEK several times in the past and it was fantastic. I suppose you can't really compare a 5* in PEK to a 4* in Djerba.

The bedrooms were cold (like lots of hotels at this time of the year) very 'tired' looking and the carpets visibly grubby. They did - after waiting for an hour to be told that the air conditioning-heating unit was actually working properly - change the room and eventually gave me a radiator.

The dining room has a very low ceiling which makes it feel almost claustrophobic. The food was mediocre.

Reception didn't deal with money at all and to check out you had to join the queues of people waiting to change currency. I waited half an hour to pay my final bill - only one cashier on duty!

Wouldn't ever rush back!

never mind essem,there are so many very good hotels in tunisia,wonderful landscapes and lovely tunisian desert.
but some times we can expect or see some undesirable things,but any way....
you have to complain and everything will in be right way.

Hi Bouha, You are so right - I didn't allow the standard of the hotel to spoil my trip - If they hadn't 'fixed the problem' I would just have moved on - I really like the look of the Radisson Hotel there though for the next time I go. I've only ever stayed in the Djerba Paradise Resort 3 years ago and when I passed it this time, it looked as though it's perhaps closed down?

Having returned to Tunisia every year, sometimes twice a year , for the past 15 years, we have generally stayed in Hammamet at the Azur complex, a part of the Orangiers Group, just north of the old medina. Comprising the Bel Azur, with possibly the nicest gardens in Tunisia, the Sol Azur with it's Casino and the Royal Azur, once hailed as the first high rise and first 5 star in Tunisia. The grounds here are well established and most pleasant compared with the sterile concrete expanses of Hammamet Yasmine and the Hollywood film set of Port el kantaoui. Last year we stayed in an old colonial type hotel in Gammarth, now looking very sad, and the beach is disgusting, being ruined by quad bikes and camel dung. Some new development is trying to uplift Gammarth/La Marsa, but with the spectre of the new northern development planned with aid from UAE, the future is bleak. Don't tell any one else about the Azur, let's keep it our secret.

On our yearly return we stay at Riu Park El Kebir in Hamammet cant fault it at all. Food absolutely delicious my fussy 9year old has a choice every meal. Stayed at Keopps 5* in Nabeul bit tooo posh for me! You can usually tell the minute you walk in what the Hotel is going to be like. Gammarth also got nice Hotels but cant remember the names.
