I have a few things but none are in Tunisian. Hubby laughs at me cos I try it out and its Egyptian or some other place I've decided to try and learn from scratch, doing the writing and all. trying to learn the alphabet at the moment, my writing is probably like a kid learning to write english, big and messy

I wrote everything in a book colour coded everything (being a geek) and learnt the words that were similar to urdu, punjabi and hindi. Used the dictionary to write the in laws a letter til this day they think I'm lying to them that I am Tunisian.

At some point I want to learn classic Arabic, so I can be understod by a greater amount of people....but at first I'm concentrating on Tunisian dialect. I want his family to understand me.
I've learned maybe fifty words and phrases just by asking him for words and writing them down on flash cards and going over them.
I've looked for quite some time for a book/cd to learn Tunisian dialect, but mostly classic Arabic is taught. Moroccan was the closest I found....until just recently. I found a Tunisian language course on ebay. I just bought it and haven't even received it yet. I'll let you all know if it's any good.
There's plenty more if anyone is interested. Just go to ebay and type in Tunisian language and you'll see it. I've always checked ebay and other places and I've never seen Tunisian dialect anywhere else before.
It says it's: "Published by the U.S. Army Defense Language Institute."

Oh boy. I hope I'm not going to learn phrases like, "get your arms in the air!" or "good job, soldier!" lmao!

Would anyone be able to furnish me with a short list of transliteration letters used by arab speakers to write in English alphabet eg 5, 3, and the arabic letters they represent, your husbands/wives/boyfriends/girlfriends from Tunisia will know what I mean. shukran jessilan.

Just a quick post to let you all know that i had a brief phone call with my mother in law

I knew what i wanted to say and was half way there, many thanks to Sb who helped me with the pronounciation of the words, I was sooo nervous, and even more so when mother in law did the lelelelelele.....Made me jump outta my skin!!

I could hear her when i got off the phone from her and back to my fella re-laying back exactly what i said, and i think she was impressed.

Oh, and just to let you all know when Steph says she can do the lelelele, she is SO NOT lying!!! hehehe
