Hi how are U? what about visiting Djerba , it is the largest Island of North Africa which is famous by its 1977 location of the Mos Eisley ( it is a spaceport town on the planet Tatooine in the fictional star wars universe) in addition Djerba is well-known for its exceptional beaches , landscapes and hotels.:)

Been to Djerba a couple of times now and loved it.

Has it's own airport - you might be able to fly direct from down south. Stayed in Djerba Paradise (timeshare swap) three years ago and the Mouradi in Feb this year (wouldn't recommend).

I went to Djerba, and while I enjoyed myself, there really isn't that much to do for tourists unless you stay in the zone touristic.

Some of my favorite things on the island though were:

Restaurant Essoufra - This restaurant offers EXCELLENT authentic Tunisian food, a great atmosphere, and extremely reasonable prices. A great experience to have!

The village of Ajim - the 1977 location of the Mos Eisley exterior scenes in the first Star Wars movie.

The city of Guellala - has a museum of ancient Tunisian traditions.

Fort Borju l-Kabir - It was the Romans building the first recorded stronghold here, but it was the king of Sicily, Roger de Lluria, who in 1289 built the very first fortress.

Parc Djerba Explore - There are three main themes running throughout the park, but the only one that interested my son was the crocodiles! In an area of over 20000 meters square there are over 400 crocodiles. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and answered all of our questions along with giving us some useful bits of information.

I lived on Djerba for a while last year and i can honnestly say i hated it.

We had a fantastic house in its own private land with a huge pool, the neighbours where friendly enough if their kids wanted to use our pool otherwise they never spoke, we tended to socialise with my ex's employee's or when he was working i got to spend days chilling out in the Iberostar Djerba Beach Hotel ... i guess its the perks of the job.

There is a beach on Djerba called flamingo beach... its stunning really quiet and peaceful. i found Houmt Souk lively and friendly at night with lots of places to eat. My ex took me to a lovely restaurant on the beach i cant remember what its called now but it was for our anniversary and we ate in 4 poster bed huts on the beach *how romantic*

Although i did get spit on in the street one day for holding my ex's hand apparently they dont like it i am english he was french :(.

Its also mainly for the french .. they cater for the french and hardly speak any english.

    Hi Kowa,

Congratulations on the news of your forthcoming baby, that's wonderful news. Hope you are keeping well with the pregnancy. Not long to go.

Good news that your hb has settled well and has a job there. Was it difficult to get him a visa for Norway?

I'm Scottish, have been resident here in Hammam Sousse since 2001. Love the sun, am a sunworshipper at heart, so at the moment I'm not happy because the weather has been more like Scottish weather than Tunisian!

    Thank you! :)
We are very exciting, and almost cant wait! :)

-Well... It was alot of paper to apply for the visa, but we went to Tunis to the konsulat (embassy) to get alot of information. That helped us.
We applied for the visa in march 2010, and in that time it was 12-14 month waitingtime to get the answer. But we were lucky,in December right before christmas the UDI (Immigration agency) called me and said my husband got the visa! So it taked us 9 months waiting after appliance....
    We married in 2009....

And i went to Tunisia in january 2011 to travel with him back to Norway. And thank god i got there just that time. The day after the revolution started... It was so much insecurity about everything, cuz we had to go to Algerie to get the visa. The reason for that is becouse they not have norwegian embassy in tunisia, only a litle consulat, the embassy belonging for us is in Algerie...
But everything went good, and 2 weeks later he was safe here with me :)

I thought you were able to use the Finnish 'embassy' in Tunis as there isn't a Norwegian Embassy?
