Default TUNISIA -ECONOMY-AIR TRANSPORT : Tunis-Gabes air line inaugurated

- The first Tunis-Gabes line of "Sevenair" air company was inaugurated on Friday by transport minister Abderrahim Zouari.

The first flight of "Sevenair" to Gabes took place only two weeks after the Head of State had kicked off construction of the new civil terminal of "Gabes-Matmata" airport, located 25 kilometers from the city-centre of Gabes.

This terminal, whose construction cost is estimated at 3 million dinars, will cover an area of 2,000 square metres, is meant to host at a first stage domestic flights of "Sevenair" domestic flights. It will have a hosting capacity of 200,000 passengers/year.

At a second stage, it is also expected to receive international flights.

Pending completion of the civil terminal 15 months later, "Sevenair" will make use of a provisional terminal fitted out to this effect and equipped with all necessary conveniences for the good progress of the line.

Regular commercial flights of "Sevenair" will start on Thursday, January 10, 2008, with two weekly return flights between Tunis and Gabes, via Gafsa, each Thursday.

These two flights will provide each a capacity of 70 seats.

This schedule is aimed at ensuring larger flexibility for the movements of passengers wishing to make a round-trip on the same day.
