Tunis

An attractive offer running from October 2007 to October 2008, consisting of an 11 day tour to various Tunisian cities including Kairouan, Tozeur and Sidi Bou Said at a price of 2,175 dollars, is henceforth available to Indonesian travellers lured by Tunisia 's Sahara desert and rich historical heritage.

The offer which was announced in the Jakarta Post in its September 6, 2007 edition, may include stopovers in Italy to make the package more attractive; it is the result of a deal brokered between the Tunisia, Indonesian tour operators and Qatar Airways which flies to Tunis via Doha 7 days a week.

Hosting a media conference at the Embassy's residence in Jakarta , Tunisia 's Ambassador in Indonesia Mr Faycal Gouia said that "the Sahara would probably be the biggest attraction for Indonesians as it provided a unique and unrivalled experience".

According to Tinny Prayogi, the representative of a consortium of 15 Indonesians travel agencies, " Tunisia breaks the stereotype of an African country being poor and populated ", adding that "it is also home to Kairouan, the fourth Holiest Islamic city in the world".
