Default Transat Expands Tunisian Presence

TUNIS, JULY 16, 2007 (TAP) - Canadian "Transat A.T. Inc." has becomes one of the greatest tour operators on the scene in Tunisia through its acquisition of French-Tunisian "Amplitude Voyages" tour operator, a specialist of the Tunisian destination.

Founded in 1992, "Amplitude Voyages" sells a yearly tourist production to the Tunisia destination of some 80,000 French people, by means of classical travel agencies or online sale networks, as well as large distribution.

In fact, Tunisia receives more than 6 million tourists annually, some 10 percent of whom are French.

Mr. Jean-Marc Eustache, president and head of "Transat A.T. Inc." management said, during a meeting with the press on Saturday in Paris, that by this acquisition, Canadian T.O. strengthens its position in Tunisia, a strategic destination in which T.O. has been very active, through the operations of its "Look Voyages" and "Amplitude Voyages," as well as their distribution networks.

For his part, Mr. Mohamed Zribi, "Amplitude Voyages" director, said that this new achievement "is a reason of pride for the Tunisian tourism in the world and in Europe, as well as a crowning for the work of all players in the Tunisian tourism sector who took part in the development of Amplitude so that the latter could join one of world tourism leaders, namely Transat."
