Hi Kelly,
I was living in Tunis for 8-9 months last year with my Tunisian fiance and plan to return to Tunis in March. I speak hardly any Arabic although I was slowly learning some words and phrases while I was there. My fiance isn’t working but I was able to find work in Tunis teaching English so we were able to survive.
Like you, I got really tired. I also got very depressed and eventually came back to the UK for a rest! I’m doing a TEFL course here in England in Feb/March.
I would love to get in touch when I get back to Tunis to share support and information.
Kate

I think this is so great if you all can keep in touch and know that you're not "alone" when in Tunisia. It's wonderful to hear another English speaker when we're in a different country!

Kate - I read your e-mail and I can understand. You're torn between love and trying to fit into another culture. They may or may not want you there. Even though you're from the UK, you are still like complete opposites. Always remember that you come first.

Well if your information about the British is correct that will be helpful. When you visit another country it is nice to hear some English sometimes. I am definitely not offended when it's not there.

Any updates on how people are going living out in Tunisia with there Tunisia boyfriends? I see this thread was started in 2007 - so thought i'd ask what happened .how things went.
Did anyone have any problems from the police whilst living out there with their boyfriends?
