Default Any English in Tunis

Hi everyone, just found this site and it is great.
I am currently residing in megrine just outside the capital with my fiance i have been coming back and forth to make our relationship although we actually met in Egypt whilst he was working. We then decided to go to Tunisia to make our future but the plans are not working well, he is now working as an Electrician and i am not working, i can only speak a tiny bit of arabic and although i get on really well with his family and his sisters i am very tired and nt looking forward to our future here in Tunisia, we have discussed going to England and over the next few months will try and make as much arrangement as we can ready for the dreaded Embassy! But just wondered if there was any English living in Tunis like me .

Hi, In reponse to Kelly C, I'm English and married a Tunisian man. We lived in Hammamet for about a year when we first got marrieduntil I got bored not working and missed home so I persuaded him to come to England and live. We've been back here for four years now and he has just got citizenship and a British passport. A very long, complicated process to get to this stage but it was all worthwhile. If you want any advice or just a chat about your experiences there then feel free to email me! x

Hi,
I have been married to a tunisian for 13 years and have two children. We have been in England for 12 years now, but are planning to move back to Tunisia. I lived over there for nearly 2 years when we first met and we married out there, but my husband (as do they all) is pining to go back home and I am happy to do so to. Obviously we have more to think about with 2 children now aged 7 & 9 with schooling etc, but I would be happy to keep in touch with any English living in Tunisia or planning to in the future, or really anything at all!!!!
Steph

Hi Kelly, Kris is right in that most English living in Tunis are embassy staff. However, I'm English and living in Tunis as I teach english here and I'm also going through the same process as you at the embassy. If you wanna meet up then I would be willing to... send me an email. I would be happy to talk to someone about the visa process!
