When my hubby (ex) first came here I said I would fast with him, he found it very hard here as he was in the minority rather than it being the norm! The hardest thing he found was the **x he had never shared a bed all night every night with a woman before, if we had a lay in the temptation was too much ;~)

And why would you do that? Are you a moslem? Do you think he will fast with you on Easter (when you are a christ) too?
Not drinking in a hot climate might be good when you sit in your tent the whole day and meditate and sleep (the latter is what many Tunisians do during Ramadan in the day), but it won't do any good when you walk around, go swimming and such things. In fact, it is medically NOT advised to behave in such a manner, you should ask your doctor first.
During the period, btw, women are forbidden to do Ramadan.

One hint though - try to avoid going into the hotels, since there you will find not only tourists, but also the moslems who would like to drink and eat during the day ... and if you pass a closed cafe from which smoke erupts, don't think it is on fire, it is just a private smokers group in there. :-)

Did you know that in ramadan if you need to drink you have to do so, fasting isnt to make people feel ill, 1 of the main reasons of doing it is to feel what the poor are feeling, but at least we get a feast after, they dont! So please understand the concept of ramadan before judging!
Being a muslim is not a negative thing.

Smile Getting married during ramadam

My fiance has arranged for us to get married on the 20th sept the 2nd week into ramadam.....im sure its going to far more difficult than any other day of the year.
he has arranged for us to get married as late as poss on that day so we can all enjoy the celebrations afterwards... as for kepping the 'mojo' under control pillows down the middle of the bed works wonders..... as the week i spent there last year proved. the hardest thing i found was not beoing able to just touch him..and to not being able to kiss him goodbye before flying home was heart breaking...

louise
