Smile Eid Al Adhaa

Hello Everyone,

I hope everyones ok, and enjoying the not so nice weather. This year I am going to visit the in-laws in december, and will be there during the celebrations of Eid Al Adhaa, but I am unsure what happens. If anyone has been in Tunisia during Eid Al Adhaa I would be grateful to hear of their experiences.

Also like christmas do you exchange gifts?

Thanks

K

hiya kam,
this is what I've been told and what I've learnt so forgive me if im wrong.

Eid al-Adha is when families get together and sacrafice a sheep, goat. . as a symbol of Ibrahim's sacrifice. It is then cooked and eaten by family and friends.

Again This is oly what I've been told so im sorry if ive got it wrong.

xxx

This is true, a goat or a lamb is sacrificed by each family and it is in remembrance of when Ibrahim was willing to sacrifice his son Isak but God told him to sacrifice a sheep instead. I remember Kris described last year or the year before that you can buy sheep to give away as gifts, complete with bows and all...

Default Hello

Hi everyone, my name is Jill and I stumbled on this website by accident.

I married my Tunisian husband on May 15th 2006 and he came to live with me on December 22nd 2006, we had known each other for six years so it was not a holiday romance.

We are very happy, he has settled incredibly well and has a good job.

I cannot pretend things have been easy mainly due to the change in culture but together we have worked through it.

Last December I went to my first festival and it was a shock to the system but also very family orientated, we took gifts mainly chocolate because that is what Mourad's family like.

When i was living in tunisia i spen Eid with my now husband and his family, we went to the Slim centre in sousse and to Tej Mahaba in sousse and he had to buy me 2 outfits!

His parents where shocked he was like he has never even bought a stick of bread for us! He must like you to spend hundreds of TD.

But the majority of the time from my experiance they buy the children lots of toys and new clothes!

Does anyone know when ramadan is exactly this year? As we wont hear the big bangs here in the UK
