Smile Certificate of no impediment

Hi. I am new to the forum. I am getting married in Sousse in October 2008. I giving notice of my marriage at the registry office on thursday to obtain my certificate of no impediment. Can anyone advise whether once I have received the certificatw whether I have to have it legalised. Also does a birth certificate have to be legalised.

Default getting married in tunisia

Hiya,

I am getting married in October too, my partner has been over here on holiday visa and has just gone back for a week to take papers for our forthcoming marriage, I think I have got it a bit wrong though with what I have told him to do, I have told him to go to Embassy with my CNI but I think that our marriage needs posting with the local registrar first, can anyone give me a better idea of this as the governent web site does not really give much information now at all, and what is this about getting it validated, urgh paracetemol please....

Hello I got married 19 months ago in tunisia, All you need is Birth Certificate I f you ring your local birth registrar up and tell them you need a birth certificate and you need it so it is valid 21 days before you go if its before they wont accept it and make sure it not run out of date befor your marriage for example say you marry 20th get the birth certificat 2/3 days before then you know you are ok. I did not get certificate of impediment I went through tunisia embassy and solicitor in nabel had no problems and now we live in scotland so good look and all the best hope you both happy as we are salam angela

Suzie, I needed CONI which I got after registering my intent to be married with my local registry office and it being displayed for 21 days same as if you were getting married here. I then got this translated at the embassy. I have been led to believe that if you get your CONI through embassy you have to have been living in Tunisia for at least 3 weeks. Get your fella to check with registrar what you need but most people on here have been asked for a CONI.
