I think that people from the UK can stay for up to 3 months without a Visa. After that you would probably have to apply for one.

It all depends. If you are married to a Tunisian, it is not hard to get to move there. If you want to just stay there or look for work, you can indeed do so for 3 months without requiring a visa.

Their is a visa section for assistance in inviting Tunisians to the UK however I would check with the italian consolate in tunsia regarding what you need to italy.

I suggest you check out what people, especially women, have found out when they went there to live. Do your research on the daily living conditions of the segment of society you would be entering, then get things set up.

You wouldn't want any nasty surprises when you make the commitment to moving there.

Default Hi

As a UK girl living in Tunisia, I would reiterate what sagemother says - do your homework into Tunisia, its a big step to make and coming with no knowledge of how to live, work and adapt to Tunisia is a new experience as is moving to any new country but things are not always as straight forward as they seem.

Unemployment particularly for non nationals is very hard as well as Tunisians also finding employment is hard.

Theres plenty to do and see for sure but visiting on holiday is completely different, you can come to Tunisia for 3 months without a visa then you will need to leave the country or apply for your residency in Tunisia all this involves paperwork and prove of your own income to support you here.

There are also language and cultural issues that might be problematic. I live in the USA and have in-laws that moved to the UK. My sister-in-law had a very difficult time withthe way women are dealt with in the UK, compared to here in the USA. She says its like living in the 1950's. I know that is something that I couldn't adjust to.

Even though both the UK and USA of the countries seem fairly modern, the gender expectations are incredibly different. What seems like "forward thinking" to the inhabitant of a country might not be nearly as forward as a new resident is accustomed to. Your gender might prevent you having a decent life.

Husbands who are "henpecked" are usually dealing with unhappy women. I would think it indicates the women are not as fulfilled as they might be if they had a few more opportunities, or less social pressure to remain "in their place".
