Hi Nizar
Does your girlfriend have an English or Irish passport. I know she lives in UK but like myself I live in UK and have Irish passport because I am from Ireland. If she has an Irish passport she will have to go through Irish embassy but if she has or can get a British passport then you can go throught the British procedure. I must say that it seems easier if she has a British passport and then the information on these boards will apply to her. I plan to marry my Tunisian boyfriend in February and found it a lot easier to get a British passport and use that for the Visa process. If she can get a British passport I would say for her to get it. Its £72.00 and I had mine in less than a week after I made my application.

Oh dear, £72 for a passport? Pricey, but nothing compared to your visa application fees... then again, you get decisions way faster than we do, 6 months is a calculated minimum waiting time for decision in Sweden.

Actually, I've heard that the Irish passport is more influential in that Irish law states that a woman has a right for her husband to be with her, so you'd be better off going through that route. Not sure of the ins-and-outs though, so it may be worth you both doing some investigation. Good luck!

I hadn't heard that but I'm guessing that as I'm living in the North of Ireland and we'll be living here when he comes I'll need to apply for a UK visa anyway as an Irish one would probably wouldn't allow him to work here. I'll investiagte a bit further though.

Hi Nizar - you will need to apply to the British Embassy, Tunis, if you want to join your wife in England. Seanita, the reason I've heard about the Irish passport is that a friend appealed against a refusal and was granted a visa on the basis of the Irish law - she lives in Northern Ireland and her husband joined her there.

Default Northern Ireland

That is true i did alot of research on visa all over the country and With Northern Ireland you dont need to apply for a visa if you are married to an irish citizen and they have been living there for 3 years i think then they just handthe visa over.

I somethimes think that the more research you do themore stressed you get and the more crazy you get sometimes i think its just best to take a step back for a couple of weeks and chill out. Because if ppl really love eachother they will wait a life time to be with there partners! *Trust is the key thing when having a long distance relationship*

i agree with u RachaelLahmar but idid find out that If you are a non-EEA member but your husband or wife is an EEA-member you must an EEA family
permit before you travel to the United Kingdom. This is similar to entry clearance. You may apply for
this at your nearest British Embassy or High Commission. The rules for getting a family permit are
much more relaxed. The only requirement is to show the marriage is a genuine one, not a 'marriage of
convenience'.

So what kind of visa i am going to apply ?????????????????????
