Default Holiday visa to UK...help needed!

Hiya,
Can anyone give me some advice on my Tunisian friend obtaining a holiday visa (2weeks) to come to visit the UK?
They will be able to stay with me, I am full time employed and rent my own flat.
Thanks so much!

Good Luck with getting a visitors visa, the hardest part to prove is their 'intention to return', my partner has not got a formal job so is making this difficult, if he can get a letter from his employer to say its a holiday and he's returning to his job and between you you have enough money for the length of time he's here then that should help, plus all the other things needed as per the visa section on here that Samwella stated.

I just did the letter and specified an amount that I had budgeted for dring their stay.

I have had Hajer, dad mum and sister all over. As long as yourhonest I cannot see the problem.

ONE IMPORTANT THING!!! Medical insurance mae sure that they hav it and that you see the paperwork for it. My mother in law came over and Hajer said she hadit but she didn't got ill and I had to pay £45 for a doctor visit and £390 for one evening in the MAU in the hospital (no bed stay) then a last minute flight to o back home fo further treatment.

Do not believe the right wing crap about foriegers using up the NHS as they where on our case with forms before anything happened. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE INSURANCE!!!!

Imagine if your visitor breaks their leg and is in hosptal for a week your talking £5000+

Just following on from Kris's comments regarding hospitals, my husband sustained a hand injury from work and had to have an operation which was so unexpected, two nights in the hospital, two lots of antibiotics and a follow up appointment. About 3 months later we got a letter from the hospital asking all kinds of questions about his residency status etc as it transpired in a conversation that he was from Tunisia. I was so stressed out, I called them up and explained that my husband is on a 2 year settlement visa etc. They said it was ok - I sent them a copy of his passport. We could've been landed with a big bill in the thousands of pounds. So anyone got any visitors coming over, make sure they have adequate health insurance.

Hi Samwella, my husband registered with the local doctor, he had to bring his passport and fill in a form, it was all quite informal.

Wow, that is something I never thought of. What you would do if you got sick or hurt and how your medical insurance would work.
