Default help with bank transfers

hey

me and my fiance have set up a bank account in tunisia for our wedding stuff. problem is that he opened it for both of us with his money etc, ANYWAY problem is he gave me the number of the bank account and a word to quote to get the money transferred in a week and not two, the bank account is in both our names so so far i have

our names on the account
a huge number as the account reference and
a word to quote for quick transfer ( ie not 3 weeks as we need money over there between us to sort stuff out)

so do i just need this info to tranfer money from my english account? and do i just quote the word to the cashier to get a faster transfer? any one have info if they already have a tunisian bank account or have set up tranfers?

ta very muchly x

Sending money from UK to Tunisia usually requires the following as unfortunately I have to do this all the time.

Name
Address of bank
IBAN
RIB code
Swift
Reference

The more info you have the more secure and successfull the transaction will be.

If it is a large amount of money shop around for the best rate and you should pay 30-50 for sending the money + fees from the bank getting themoney.

Time is usually <10 days to Tunisia

Please however do not bet your life on the money getting there as I have no issues untill recently where I sent a lot of money (10k+) and it was with BIAT for weeks untill I got RBS to pull it back they even had he nerve to say to my wife that I didnt send the money and questioned my integrity!

Wait till BIAT is crap goes to the top of google!

Needless today some onther bank is going to get the Tunisia.com account and in the words of Julia Roberts "Big mistake. Big. Huge. I have to go shopping now. "

Apologies for getting arogant but when people treat the wife badly it bugs me banks in Tunisia somtimes need to show a bit more customer service and businesses in general somtimes I feel.

Default Hi

Hi Kris,

I have to agree, though I opened a bank account here with BNA and they told me I could deposit my salary into the bank account which would be a lot more convenient - when I went into the bank to do that, they told me I would need to send the money to UK by Western Union and then get someone to transfer the funds into the bank account, which is totally against the point of why I opened it to try and make life easier. Needless to say I havent used it.

Hi Nikki, was it easy to open an bank account with your name on, this is something my fiance has mentioned doing but I didnt know if we had to be married first?

If your non resident you can only open in hard currency.

Western Union are so expensive wire transfer or via money broker are much better.

I only use western union when I am sending to somone a smaller amount up toa few hundred quid when I cannot be bothered with finding out all the iformation and the need it right there and then,

so you would recommend me sending money to him by Western union then and he can put it in the bank himself? seems a bit cheeper as its only 100 or so dinars and i dont want to risk the money sitting in random places for weeks on end lol

kelly- umm i think its alright to do it, kaled said he would try and open one for both of us and today text me with the no ( which is like a zillion numbers long lol) im phoning him tomorrow so he will let me know the rest of the details! watch this space! if banks charge so much id rather do it by western or put it in the bank myself when im there in 6 weeks lol

no offence but why is everything in tunisia so complicated! x x still love it tho xx

money brokers are like travelex etc you see a lot of them in international property magazines.

They are probably better for larger amounts

For smaller amounts research your cards as you can get debit cards from some banks that do not charge much for withdrawls example apparently Nationwide are quite good for this.

Remember when using western union you may get a CC bill if you use your card + their fees as is counts as a cash advance
